Product Overview

A winter annual, crimson clover is grown from the Gulf Coast region to Southern Ohio clear to the West Coast. It is tolerant of medium soil acidity and will grow readily on both sandy and clay type soils. It is an important winter annual forage in the south, with growth continuing through the winter with the amount influenced by temperature. It thrives in mixture with grasses, provides excellent winter grazing, makes good hay. It is high in nutritive value when harvested for forage in the pre-bloom stage. Flower heads are long, crimson, and very showy. Crimson clover and annual ryegrass make an excellent cover crop mixture for improving the texture, matter and tilth of soil.

If you are a cat lover, you can sprout this clover seed indoors, year round and give it to your cat as a treat.  They may look at you funny, or they may show you how much they love it!  It's easy to grow and good for your cat.

Great tasting sprouts at a good price!

Posted by Pippit Carlington on 4th Jul 2020

These are one of my favorites from Todd's Seeds; alot like Alfalfa sprouts but sturdier and they last a good length of time in the refrigerator without wilting. I got alot for my money! These are great in salads as well as in sandwiches as a substitute for lettuce! Firm and crisp with a mild but rich flavor! Excellent germination rate although rinsing and picking out all the hulls was a long, tedious process.

    Lots of sprouts

Posted by Georgia on 25th Oct 2017

This Crimson Clover Seed has been sprouting very well. I use one tablespoon in the jar method and it starts sprouting the next day. It fills up the jar. It has a very mild taste. Even in the fridge, it just keeps right on growing.

    Juicy, Perky, and Flavorful Sprouts!

Posted by Pippit Carlington on 28th Jul 2017

I have tasted Crimson Clover sprouts from 3 different sources including Todd's Seeds and these are the plumpest, perkiest I have had yet! They are not tough or woody, and they have a rich flavor that I like even better than Alfalfa sprouts. When I started them alongside Alfalfa sprouting seeds in separate containers they germinated about a day earlier than the Alfalfa, are much firmer, thicker, and last longer in the refrigerator before drying out or getting limp. My first batch lasted about a week and I was able to eat them all while they were still at their peak. The price is great too! Hope it stays that way because I will be a regular customer for these!
