Alyssum Carpet of Snow [ Lobularia Maritima ] is an outstanding, quick flowering, low border annual plant. It is Old-fashioned and sweet, honey-like fragrance which gives an impression of the mild exquisiteness. This fragrant garden favorite produces masses of crisp white blooms. There flowers are pure, white florets, 1/4 inches wide and they produce 1-2 inch wide clusters. The leaves are medium green and they flower freely which is why they are great decorative flowers. Ideal for lining walkways, borders, edgings in rock gardens and constantly used for window boxes, sometimes used between paving stones, because they are ideal for decorative purposes. They are ideal for using with other annual in flower beds and basket. They should be planted in full sun, but can be planted in partial shade. Early-blooming plants blanket the ground with thimble-shaped clusters of pure-white blossoms all season. It takes between 8-15 days to mature, which is quick for flowers. The planting depth should be approximately an eighth of an inch deep and they should be planted with a spacing of between 6-8 inches each. The plant height will reach at least 4-6 inches and it needs to be in direct sunlight to grow to its full potential.
