Globe Gilia (Gilia Capitata) Seed Bloom into blue to purplish flowers. The dense blooms form an attractive green foliage. The rounded multi-flowers attract butterflies and therefore are very commonly used in meadows, flower gardens, containers and even just on roadsides. They are very drought tolerant and can grow just about anywhere anywhere. They bloom in direct sunlight, meaning at least 6 hours per day or the shade which is less than 1 hour per day. Their blooming period is in spring and once matured they grow from 12-24 inches tall. Gilia Capitata takes 7-14 days to mature, but can be dependent on the soil and weather conditions.

Their planting depth should be 1/4 inch deep and their line spacing should be 1 inch between plants. Their seeds should be sown between 4-8 weeks before the last spring frost. After the seedlings are 1-2 inches high, thin to 6-8 inches apart. Finally, replant the thinned plants. There is the option to plant directly outside if the weather conditions are favorable and the dangers of the frost has passed. The seeds can be dug no deeper than a ¼ of an inch in colder climates.
