Sweet Pea, Knee High Mix (Lathyrus odoratus) Seed are grown in the full sun, which means at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. They are annual flowers and are known for their affinity to climb up trellises or other such things, as well as their sweet smelling flowers. The Sweet Pea Knee High Mix has much smaller blooms, and is perfect for gardeners who enjoy the flowers, but don't want to deal with the pain of installing a trellis and training it to climb. If you're located in an area where the ground won't freeze during the winter months, then planting can be done in October or November.
During the winter, they'll begin to bloom, and can last into the mid-summer months. However, in cooler climates, the plants should be sowed 4-6 weeks prior to the final frost, and they'll be in bloom from spring into the sumer. These seeds need rich matter, preferably incorporated deep into the garden bed. To obtain optimal results, soak the seeds overnight in water that's at room temperature the day before you plan to plant them. Only plant the seeds that seem to have swollen and grown in the water. After they have been planted, water them every 2-3 weeks to prevent the soil from completely drying out. If you're experiences warmer and drier weather, water more often: at least once a week.
