They are a mix of the garden giants which can grow up to 10 feet and the shorter, classic gold flowers such as the "Dwarf Sungold" or the "Dwarf Sunspot" can grow up to 7'. In North America, Sunflowers are classed as the “Flower of the Sun”, they have a bright, abundance color of yellow which brightens up every garden and land that they exist on. Sunflowers require direct sunlight to grow, which is a minimum of 6 hours per day. They are annual flowers and require average and moist soil, but they will tolerate most any soil conditions. They cover a vast amount of area, so they are ideal for gardeners with large amounts of land or open spaces. Sunflowers are used mainly as cut flowers, showy flowers and extended blooms. They are easy to grow and popular in the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, West and Pacific North West. The seeds can be stored in a cool, dry place before planting.
