Product Overview
Bachelor Button (Centaurea cyanus) Tall Pink Seed are great if you're looking to attract butterflies or bumblebees to your garden. They're beautiful both fresh and dried, and need very little care in order to thrive. An additional bonus is their deer resistant qualities, keeping away one of the worst garden pests. The petals are relatively small, about two inches in diameter, but they have a beautiful pink shade that makes them burst. They'll usually reach between 2-3 feet tall, and will grow wide, making them ideal for borders on garden beds.
They begin to bloom in late spring or early summer, but if located in an area with milder winters, could bloom as late as September. In order to get the maximum blooms, continue to remove old flowers. Seeds should be sown in early spring, or in the fall if it's an area with mild winters. They generally require full or partial sun, and will tolerate many different soils as long as there is good drainage. An additional benefit is that they self-sow, meaning that once you plant these flowers, they'll continue to bloom year after year with not much additional work on the gardener's part.
