Great Hearty Sprouts for Salads, Black Bean Burritos, and Sandwiches!

Posted by Pippit Carlington on 28th Jul 2017

The germination rate of these was almost 100% and they were really strong, stocky little sprouts. I tried a growing method somebody suggested without soil using salt water as nutrient and it was a little difficult to prevent them getting too soggy at the roots and attracting fungis gnats, but I was able to get a good many of them to grow long and tender for eating. This next batch that is soaking right now is going into soil and I'm going to grow them outside on my deck so that the water can evaporate more easily and they'll be less prone to fungis gnats. I'm looking forward to tasting a full carpet of these hearty greens! I especially love these sprouts on black bean burritos with salsa, sour cream, and avacado on top! Yum! The flavor is great and so is the price, and they last a long time in the refrigerator, so I plan on getting these on a regular basis!

    Worth Every Penny!

I grow and sell microgreens and sunnys. This is the first time I could find organic seeds that I could afford. I just grew my first trays of them - oh they are wonderful! The sweetest sunnys I've ever tasted, the leaves are beautiful, and the germination is excellent. Thanks Todds Seeds!!

    Worm castings

Posted by Tim on 4th Jan 2016

I use worm casting in potting soil and the greens grow big and strong. Has anyone use co2 to accelerate the growing process?

    Delicious !

I have been sprouting these sunflower seeds for a few months now . I eat them every day . Takes about a week to 10 days for the crop to mature to harvest . Germination is very good . I use vermiculite as a growing medium . Very nice flavor - little on the nutty side . 1 cup is 45 calories .

    Delicious

Sprouted well. Planted in dirt to get better results. These were so delicious that I looked up the calories and was surprised. Not sure if this is correct, but several sites say 1/4 cup = 190 calories. Not diet food but delicious. If it is 1/4 cup of green sprouts, that is not very many.
