Red Cherry - Large Tomatoes are extremely productive plants which can yield large 1-2" cherry tomatoes. They can be grown in numerous locations around the house from the patio to the garden; therefore they are popular amongst home gardeners. Red cherry tomatoes can be harvested in hanging baskets, which can conserve space if needed. Their harvest time is shorter compared to most tomatoes approximately 75 days to maturity.
In the Mediterranean they are eating mainly as a side-dish due to their tasty, rich flavor. They can be slightly acidic at times which the Europeans love, especially during the summer they are a popular salad dish in many parts of Spain. It is best to start growing the seeds from indoors six weeks prior to the final frost of spring. This way they have the ideal transplanting date for the best results. The seeds should be sown half an inch deep in a well-drained soilless starting mix. Finally, it is best to moderate watering slightly once seedlings break through the soil. Transplanting the seed outside should not be rushed. The cold soil and bad air temperatures can stress plants. Avoid planting in soils that have recently grown tomatoes, potatoes, peppers or eggplants for a minimum of two years.
